We are located in Perth, Western Australia, where we have extreme weather conditions. The summer is very hot and dry - above 100°F, or 38°C on many days - and the autumn is sticky and humid. Winter is not as cold as some countries, but we get wind and a damp, rainy chill. In spring it is hurricane season. For many people the modern solution has been to install window shutters, automatically operated by electric motors.
Also in Perth we have the usual problem of urban crime, a scourge of most cities. Aluminum shutters that come to the bottom of windows and lock securely are very popular with single parent families, and every building needs good nighttime security.
Darch Motors started to design tubular motors in 1998 in response to local demand from shutter suppliers, who wanted a competitively priced motor, good service and reliability, with a warranty. This we are able to supply.
Customers in factories, offices and homes wanted their shutters to operate quietly and to stop efficiently at different heights. Darch motors have a 'limiter' switch which allows control of the shutter position: high enough to let in some sunlight on a windy day, or fully closed during midday summer heat. Our brake system is high quality and motors use nylon and metal gears for strength and smooth operation.
The demand for window shutters has grown enormously in the last few years, and our factory has met the challenge by designing and marketing an increasingly sophisticated product. We now sell Darch motors to Eastern European countries where shutters are installed against the winter cold, also to the Middle East and South East Asia. Our product range continues to expand. |
